2017 Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum
International Book Fair and Vegetarian Expo
This year, the Buddha Museum will have brand new experiences for visitors to enjoy during the International Book Fair and Vegetarian Expo.
1) Sutra-drying Ceremony - precious sutras and scriptures will be laid out on tables under the sun at the Bodhi Wisdom Concourse. A ceremony will take place while the papers are dried.
2) Sutra Calligraphy - copy calligraphy with numerous people in the Sutra Calligraphy Hall. The hall will be opened during this time so everyone can go in and experience calligraphy writing.
3) Tea and Ch'an - experience drinking tea with a thousand people at the Bodhi Wisdom Concourse.
4) Reading Out Scriptures - imagine a thousand children all reciting a poem in the Great Enlightenment Auditorium.
5) Mongolian Cultural Experience - experience what it is like to be inside a Mongolian tent.
6) Instead of just listening to a lecture, why not drink tea with the lecturer while doing so.

Educational Field Trips
In order to nurture talents of children and young adults, the International Affairs Team has designed educational field trips that allow participants to have a better understanding of Chinese Buddhist culture. Field trips will be conducted entirely in English and tailor-made to suit different educational levels.

Wildlife at the Buddha Museum
The Buddha Museum is part of the ecological area surrounding Gaoping River, where a diverse ecology is preserved. Every day at dawn and dusk, a wide variety of birds gather at the ecological pond next to the Camphor Grove Tea House. Species include kingfishers, red turtle doves, black drongos, little egrets, and Chinese bulbuls.

Lights on the Cliff
Li Yunyan spent ten years at the grottoes of Sichuan and Chongqing and many of his paintings will be on display. There will also be photos and multimedia displays of archaeological findings and the restoration process.

When Nature Plucks the Heartstrings
Wen-jung Hsu, whose medium spans from water ink paintings to scultpures, is one of the few artists who garnered a Ten Outstanding Young Persons award. His unique style is shown through his use of lines and transforming them into sculpture.

Welcoming Mazu
Lin Chih-Hsin's artwork helps preserve the folklore culture, enabling others to have a better understanding of Taiwanese cultural life in the past. It also helps pepole understand the meaning behind the festivities that is celebrated in Taiwan.
