Legacy of Yunlin : Craftsmanship - Beigang Centennial Religious Arts and Crafts Exhibition |
The aim of this exhibition is to portray the unique religious culture of Yunlin. Showcasing how aesthetic value can be added to traditional crafts, we seek to inspire individual experiences for each of our visitors. This particular year seems to be an appropriate time to present and promote the traditional craftsmanship. As this exhibit will last until December 27th, it will also coincide with our “Buddha Meets the Gods” event, that is held yearly on December 25th. Make sure not to miss out on this artistic -, humanistic -, cultural event!

WORDS OF THE FOUNDER
All living beings depend on the earth to survive; the earth is humanity’s home. The earth protects our lives and supplies us with resources for survival. Without the earth, where would humanity and all living beings reside? Thus when the earth is facing devastating damages and gasping for breath, since we regard ourselves as “masters of the myriad creations of this earth,” we must be the first to protect the environment by caring for wildlife and nature, not carelessly killing, planting trees, preventing excessive deforestation, protecting water resources, disposing of waste properly, using commodities sparingly, and recycling.

Exploring Artifacts in Buddhist Arts
The Buddhist artifacts, which are regarded as excellent representations of cultural heritage, display not only the achievements of the artists, but also provide insight into Buddhist history. The immense range of Buddhist artifacts come together to represent Buddhist practice and cultivation. Artifacts such as alms bowls, staffs, and robes were everyday items used by monks; others served as objects of devotion or Dharma instruments in temples and monasteries. In the case of figurines and statuettes, they retain both artistic and devotional purposes.
